NATIONAL WATERCOLOR SOCIETY
Presents the 99th International Exhibition
915 South Pacific Avenue
Soft Opening October 3rd , 6-9pm
The National Watercolor Society is proudly presenting its 99th International Open Exhibition. Featuring the best in water-media from around the globe, this year we will showcase 97 Masterworks that have been carefully selected by a jury of three of the most renowned watercolor artists in the country. Jean Grastorf, Elaine Daily Birnbaum, and Frank Eber. Brian Rutenberg served as Awards Judge. We invite you to come join us in our celebration as we kick off this year’s opening reception on October 19th from 2-5pm! Regular gallery hours are Thursday and Friday 10am-2pm, and, Saturday and Sunday 12pm-4pm.

In Places Without Walls artist Terry Braunstein and poet Dinah Berland take turns with image and text, Braunstein making a photomontage, Berland writing a poem, Braunstein responding to the poem with another image, and so on, eventually resulting in a sequence of alternating images and poems. Because the intention is to remain spontaneous, each person creates a piece that could stand alone as well as in combination, they trust that whatever twist or turn they take would moves the work forward until they feel it is finished.
Exhibition organized by Michael Stearns.

RAINBOW SERVICES, LTD.
453 West 7th Street
6:00 – 8:00pm
Rainbow’s art exhibit includes artwork created by survivors, advocates, community members, and features a one-of-a-kind, multi-dimensional custom mosaic by Julie Bender. For many survivors of domestic violence, art provides a healthy and therapeutic outlet to express, heal, and grow. The art pieces on display capture the resiliency of survivors, many of whom are children, and the important role the community play in both building healthy families and addressing the harmful effects of domestic violence.
The agency’s survivor programs encourage self-awareness, healthy expression of feelings, and both physical and emotional development by creating an environment where survivors, especially children, can feel free to play, to create, to imagine, and to explore.
Rainbow’s art exhibit includes a special art activity that is open to the public. The community is encouraged to participate by creating a special piece of art.
